BlockFi Now Provides a Crypto Deposit Account With Compound Interest

Users from across the globe can deposit bitcoin (BTC) or ether (ETH) to make attention from the offering and can withdraw their money at any time, BlockFi explained.

The executive further said the as BlockFi’s business also includes providing institutions with crypto loans, it can afford the attention paid out if the costs of bitcoin along with ether fall. “We bill borrowing the crypto from BlockFi we cover depositors,” Michelson clarified.

The BIA was found at the beginning of this year in beta version and holds $10 million in assets over from institutional investors, according to the s amounts.

Account holdings are custodied in the Gemini Trust Company, co-founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, according to the statement. Gemini Trust has been controlled from the New York Department of Financial Services and also offers insurance coverage for the electronic assets it holds in custody.

In addition, it raised $52.5 million last July, in a round led by Galaxy Digital, also additional guaranteed $1.55 million early in 2018 with financing from ConsenSys Ventures, SoFi, Kenetic Capital and many others.

Announcing the information on Tuesday, the company said that the BlockFi Interest Account (BIA) is currently live and provides customers an annual rate of interest of 6 percent, paid a monthly basis from cryptocurrency. That monthly interest is then compounded to produce a 6.2 percent annual percentage yield or APY.
Back in December, BlockFi increased $4 million in a round that was led by Akuna Capital, with participation in Mike Novogratz’s Galaxy Digital Ventures along with Anthony Pompliano’s Morgan Creek Digital, Amongst Others.
